1984 Cessna 172A Skyhawk CESSNA 172 SKYHAWK
This is a straight tale Cessna, it sits a little higher which helps walking under the wing. It runs a 6 cylinder O-300-A which has a different sound and in my opinion gives you less vibration. The brakes are good but are the original which are a little noisy. It has a manual pull starter. It has manual flaps, johnson bar type, which is no maintenance and in my opinion give you better control. It also has the original wheel covers which are missing on most Cessna of this vintage. Interior is original, which is why I have sheep skin in the front (which is the way I bought it). Exterior paint is good but old, has normal wear and tear. Aircraft skin has only one ding (hangar rash). Auto Gas STC, but I have only used Avgas. The exhaust as you can see in the pictures has extensions which help keep the oil off the bottom of the plane. Last annual was around 2 years ago. I know a guy that is very cheap for annual if you are willing to put in a little time. The FBO can take care of any other issues, they are familiar with the plane. Windows are good, no cracks and no crazing, but normal old aging. This is a great airplane, gives you around 7.5 GPH, and is cheap to fly, cheap to maintain, cheap to repair. It is a good time builder or for somebody looking to stay in the air for a low price.
